The war of power Empty

The woman sat still before the executioner. Her face was dirty and expressionless but her eyes were lowered. She was too weak to put up this fight any more. She knew what her future held. It ended with the gallows and her lifeless body hanging like an apple about to fall from a tree.

Why was she in this horrible situation?

Her and the few left of those like her, were considered a disease to this civilization, as the King, Lord Drakkornor of Lanais, saw fit to slaughter her people. In reality it was just her and other weaker than her. Who wouldn’t hand over what was rightfully theirs.

The crowd roared accusations her way. The others were already killed. Their bodies were laying in heaps in a ditch some where. She let her own thoughts become her solitude as she was brought to her feet. Some day not too soon these people are going to need something more to protect them from that monster they freely call majesty. But what made this even maddening is how she had proof and was still denied freedom. If only she was stronger. But all that didn’t matter now did it? Soon she was going to join the other innocents who failed to become puppets for Drakkornor. She barely noticed the roped noose at her neck or felt the floor beneath her feet give way to gravity. She felt nothing but pity for them. She spoke up once as she seemed to be looking into the distance beyond the crowd.

“I’ve failed you my love”

Then darkness….

Lady Elizabeth was hung by the throat for heresy, Crimes against his majesty, Lord Drakkornor.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Lara stood in the back of crowd the black cloak over her head. Her face was well hidden; she knew this was the only way out her majesty had. It was the only way her will was set free and she had every intention of fulfilling in her stead. She had no time for tears. She would not shed another tear until it is of joy. But she knew if she was discovered. Her fate would be the same as her sister the queen of Halomira.

Lara stood alone as the crowd that was once gathered before the gallows soon dissipated to just her and her sister. She watched with vengeance, as what remained of Lady Elizabeth’s body, was collected. Her Queen died unjustly. And she was going to give the king his just rewards. She withdrew from the site and headed east of the village of Lanais. To where there was a tavern that mostly accompanied drunks and gypsies alike lingered outside of town. She needed a resistance. For if she wanted to put an end to this war for her sister and what remained of her people she needed an army. And yes there were still people like her. The numbers were idling but there was a handful of the Halomira left. They fled once they knew that their Queen, her sister and about a hundred of them were captured to be turned to slaves.

The Halomira are a very peaceful breed of hums. But when threatened they choose to fight to the death. And they are very skilled in the magiks of the old world, the time when the God and Goddess’ walked this earth, before the dawn of mankind. Lord Drakkornor got wind of these powers and wanted them for his self. But since his heart wasn’t pure enough, he was denied by the goddess. So he chose take vengeance on her people, and won. This day was a very sad day indeed.

~*~*~*~*~

The Tavern Inn was dark, the people drunk and in their own worlds. This was where Lara chose to keep her self hidden. It was about an hours walk out of town on foot. And its occupants hardly interested in anything else than refilling their mug. She made her way up the wooden steps and barricaded her self in her room. She had no clue how she was going to succeed. She knew what she needed and WANTED to do. But before she got blood on her hands she needed more muscle. She let the cloak fall free of her shoulders and took a look at her reflection in the mirror. Her sister’s face was met, for she was her queen’s twin. No one knew of her for she was hidden at birth. No one had any inclination that there was a double. The only difference was her eyes. As her sister’s were green. Hers were ice blue. Her hair black as night, her skin just as tan. She was short as it was with her people. She was about twenty and three years a lady of the earth, but she wasn’t over 5’2’’. She needed rest but as she laid on the makeshift bed of hay and clothe Lady Lara sobbed like a baby. Not for fear but for lost of a sister.

PostSubject: Lady Lara's Dream   The war of power Icon_minitimeThu Feb 03, 2011 12:24 am

The wind whispered through the trees as a melancholy song played by a piper below. The tears still wet on Lady Lara's face. Her dreams carried her to a place of unsettledness.
She was standing in the middle of a dark forest. The mist rose just above her feet. There was a storm brewing in the distance. The lightening struck the midnight sky. The Goddess was angry. Her hair was captured by the wind and a voice called out to her. It whispered, “Lara".
Her Queen called for her. Though her words she could not make out. But her heart told her to run. But if it was to run away she did not. She ran towards the storm brewing. Lara called out for her sister. But as soon as she reached the storm she was struck by the lightning that split through the night sky.
Lara fell to her knees. Alive she was but her spiritual body was motionless. Her eyes became wide with fear as she saw a form shoot from the sky and land below her feet. It was a man. That was all she was able to see before she woke in a cold sweat.

Lara's skin was tingling all over. She rose from the makeshift bed and reach out her hand to stop the man any farther. But when she realized that it was just her and the flicker of the candle she took a deep breathe. She dropped her hand and brought it to her forehead. The ache lingered at her temple, And as lightning and thunder collided in the midnight sky in the distance. There was a storm brewing. Soon the rain came and fell over Lanais.
